Masala Coffee Concert
Packed two hour performance. Two lead vocalists, the drummer, the group lead were very impressive.
Drums were kept inside a transparent acrylic wall. The purpose is to prevent the drums' sound from leaking into the vocal mikes and overpowering the show. Sound quality is the goal. Sound isolation.
Drums was very impressive. From the perspective that there are enough singers in my friends' circles, drums stood out as something not easy to replicate.
Vocalists are the heart of the show. Instrumentalists do not come anywhere near the vocalists from the perspective of the impact they are producing on stage. So, if singing is your passion, then there is no reason to dissipate your focus.
A good percentage of the audience are here to support the group. People are not here because they are fans. They are here because they want to support a group of passionate musicians who have chosen this path of music for their livelihood, and that alignment in love for music is what brought in a good portion of the audience.
People are here to have fun. They are not looking to judge the band. They are here to have fun. So, if the band does well, people are happy, the energy goes up, band's confidence rises, better performances come out. A positive viscious cycle.
Divya and Anjali were here to dance and enjoy the songs while Manu and myself were internalizing the experience quietly while Kittu was disengaged. We have let him live in his anime world, and when the singer sings "Koyla kaala he, chattanon ne paala he", obviously, kids can't relate.
Audience to artist relationship is a real thing. It is not as passive as one may think. Thanks to IPAC for owning up this concert along with Prime Media.
