Two old men

 Tonight, I was at a busy Thai restaurant, waiting for a table with my friend Amruth.  We were waiting right in front of the reception desk. An american old man came in with an old lady. He had two walking sticks. As I am at an age where you start to realize that you can get old as well, I took note of the differences in the base of the two walking sticks he had. I also noticed how his feet itself were twisted.  All this while, he has never had a moment where he was stable, standing on the ground. He was well dressed, and looked like a well off man. He called out to the receptionist "Table for two..", and immediately followed with "They were here first", pointing to us.   --------- A few months back,  Amruth had come over to our house in Tracy Hills. We were seated at a park table, looking over our kids playing in the park. An indian old man came by and sat at the table we were on. And then said "Oh.. Are you using this table?", as more of his friends star...

Lake Tahoe October 2023

  Saturday Divya had done the drive up, and we stopped at heavenly gondola per Rameez' recommendation from his earlier visit.  Unfortinately, the gondola was closed for the season.  However, the lake was close enough and we got the first view of the expansive Lake Tahoe. Divya did her tiktok selfies while I videographed the lake, and the ducks.  We reached our cabin at Granlibakken Tahoe.  Nestled into nature. Rustic charms slipping into dilapidation. Finding the room was a bit of a challenge. We were at 49B.  Small cozy old room with two queen beds.  After resting for a bit, we went out for dinner to Rosie's cafe nearby.I had ordered Yankee Pot Roast which tasted like "kappa puzhukke". Felt very homely, tasty and filling.  America had become "thani nadan".   This is Rosie's Cafe at Lake Tahoe.
