Fremont Onam 2023

Yesterday night, I felt like four laborers were sitting on top of a rock that is my head and gonging on it as they please. As morning came in, nausea also hit in. I felt like my system was hanging - like it had given up.  Then suddenly, I got up, went to the wash basin and vomited.  That clarified things a bit for me - I was sick.

Today, I am supposed to visit Amruth and Anjana's family in Fremont for Onam get-together. Looks like Divya and kids will have to go. I will let him know closer to lunch time and I slept.

I was woken up by Amruth's call asking me to get three chairs over. So I let him know that I am a little sick, and may not be able to make it. He told me to try and make it as much as possible. Immediately after, Anjana called Divya and insisted that I go along, and that I can lie down at their home. I also thought atleast someone would be there if I were to actually need some help. Amruth had also asked whether I had eaten anything outside - I had said no.  Later, Divya mentioned that it must be the chinese food. That is when the cards fell into place - the chinese food that I had bought for lunch from Friday, and that had stayed out all night in my office bag on Saturday without seeing the fridge had messed up my digestive system.

The problem statement became a lot clearer, and Divya made some ginger coffee for me, and after a couple more vomits, my system started recovering.

I took the sickness as an excuse to not wear mundu for the day. Luckily, I even found a matching pair of socks. We dropped off some of the payasam at Gafoor's house on the way, and I drove to Fremont. As we were late, the plantain leafs were already on Amruth's extendable dining table, and the fish fry, and prawns grabbed most limelight from my still delirious mind.

Parippu payasam that Divya had made came out well. By now, I was fine. None of the sickness really showed at Amruth's house.

Kids played with water guns,  ladies chatted from the dining area,  gents from the living area. Kittu had a hard time as the girls ganged up and attacked him with the water guns. Conversations centered around Musk's attrocities, Arun (who took over our 4813 Fremont house) had some discussions about our common ex-owner and ex-house.  I also had mentioned Ashwanth Kok's malayalam movie review about Nivin Pauly's new movie where he said that the movie can be used to clean your sins. He had given rave review about RDX, and I had wanted to watch it, and had felt that it would not get released in US.

We had tea - and then we spoke even more, and the families started dispersing one by one. On the way back, I realized that the malayalam movie RDX is playing in Fremont, and watched that as well. And it is 2:30 AM now as I close the blog note after reaching home after watching the movie.

If it was not for Anjana's and Amruth's insistence to come over, I might have stayed back, and missed such a fantastic day.  RDX movie was fun too!
